Stacy A. Trasancos, Ph.D.

Vice-President of the Board, Chief Research Officer

Stacy Trasancos, scientist, theologian, and mother, has a doctorate in chemistry from Penn State University and a master’s in dogmatic theology (summa cum laude) from Holy Apostles College and Seminary. She has seven children and nine (and counting) grandchildren.

Stacy worked as a chemist for DuPont before converting to Catholicism and radically restructuring her life. She left her career to stay home with her kids, from there becoming a writer and online educator during the fifteen years she stayed home. After moving back home to East Texas in 2017, Stacy became the Executive Director of Bishop Strickland’s St. Philip Institute in the Diocese of Tyler, Texas. Most recently, in 2021, she and her husband, Jose, assumed leadership of Children of God for Life after Mrs. Debra Vinnedge retired. Stacy decided to dedicate more time to Children of God for Life and other projects, and she resigned from the St. Philip Institute in 2022. She recently founded a new Center for Theology of Science in collaboration with Holy Apostles College & Seminary through a grant from the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She also teaches online theology courses for Seton Hall University and Holy Apostles College and Seminary, and she is a Fellow of the Word on Fire Institute. She and her childhood friend and Catholic convert, another Stacy, began a podcast named “Stacy & Stacy” about the challenges of living the life of faith.

Stacy is a frequent guest on Catholic media, including Relevant Radio, EWTN, Catholic Answers Live, and The Journey Home. She has written numerous articles for Catholic publications and is the author of Science Was Born of Christianity: The Teaching of Fr. Stanley L. Jaki and Particles of Faith: A Catholic Guide to Navigating Science (Ave Maria Press), which has also been published as a textbook for Catholic high schools and colleges.

She has also written a Catholic Answers booklet 20 Answers: Bioethics and writes the Science column for the National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly. Her most recent book in which Stacy examines the scientific evidence for Eucharistic miracles, co-authored with Fr. George Elliott, was published in October of 2021. It is titled Behold, It Is I: Scripture, Tradition, and Science on the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist (TAN Books). There are other books in the works, particularly one on the state of fetal tissue research under contract with Sophia Institute Press with a working title of An Unholy Science: The Past, Present, and Future of Fetal Tissue Research

Dr. Trasancos lives with her husband, José, and their family in Hideaway, Texas. With over three decades of scholarly pursuit and parenting experience, she is passionate about leading souls to Christ while keeping it real.
