Parents' Rights Constitutional amendment HJ RES 42

ACTION ALERT: Call your Congressman's Washington office and urge your Representative to contact Pete Hoekstra's office (it's pronounced "HOKE-struh") and become a co-sponsor of the Parental Rights Amendment.

Statement by lead sponsor Congressman Pete Hoekstra: (More information on Congressman Hoekstra's statement and the bill:  http://hoekstra.house.gov/Issues/Issue/?IssueID=4332&ln_desc= )

"Parents have the responsibility to care for, love and nurture their children. Parents, and not the government, should determine how their children are raised and how they should be educated. At a time when government at every level seems to encroach upon the ability of parents to choose the best for their children, it is important to preserve parental rights into the Constitution. Doing so would protect parents’ ability to raise their children. On June 26, 2008, I introduced H.J.Res.97, the Parental Rights Constitutional Amendment, which would protect parents’ rights to raise their children from unnecessary government intrusion. The amendment would allow for government intervention in instances of child abuse or neglect and would protect parental rights from the overreach of international law."
